How do I find people?
Open Letychka on two phones that are near each other, with Bluetooth on and the app open on both. After a few seconds each person shows up as a blip on the radar. Tap a blip to start a chat.
Do I need the internet or an account?
No. Letychka has no servers and never uses the internet. There is no account, no sign-up, no phone number and no email required. You only pick a nickname.
Why does it need Bluetooth permission?
Bluetooth is the only way the app works. It is used to discover people near you and to send messages directly between phones. It is not used for location tracking.
Why does it ask for the microphone?
Only so you can record a short voice message to send. If you never record one, the microphone is never used. Recording stays on your device and is sent only over Bluetooth to the person you choose.
Nobody shows up on the radar.
Letychka only finds people who also have Letychka installed and open, physically near you (roughly 10 to 30 meters, less through walls). Make sure Bluetooth is on, the app is open on both phones, and you are close to each other. With only one device the radar will be empty, which is expected.
Why are photos small and voice notes short?
Everything goes over Bluetooth, with no internet. Bluetooth is slow, so photos are downscaled and compressed and voice notes are short. This is a limit of the medium, not a bug.
Can I delete or edit a message?
Yes. Long-press a message. You can edit your own text messages and delete messages. Deleting your own message also removes it on the other phone.
How do I delete my data?
Chats are saved only on this phone. To wipe everything, open Settings and tap "Clear everything on this phone", or simply delete the app. There is no server, so nothing is stored anywhere else.
Is it really anonymous?
Yes. There is no account and no personal data. Other people only see the nickname you choose and the messages you send them while nearby. See our Privacy Policy.
